2015 Starbucks/Black Hat Football 2nd Team: The Defensive Linemen

Filed in Uncategorized by on December 13, 2015

DL KADE PIAZZA, Lodi High Flames

The 5-foot-11, 215-pounder was a star at the tiniest of schools when he played for Elliot Christian in 2014, and continued to excel after stepping into the Division 1 Tri-City Athletic League. He was the TCAL Defensive Lineman of the Year.

DL NATE GOOKIN, Sonora High Wildcats

The 5-foot-8, 185-pounder doesn’t look like a linemen on paper, but when you see his film, you’re reminded there’s more to being a defensive linemen than just size. He’s quick and agile, and a real pain for offensive linemen.

He’s just a junior, so get out to see him and the Wildcats next season. Gookin was the Mother Lode League Defensive Player of the Year. Check out his highlight tape by clicking on the link.

DL DEAMIAN COLLINS, Patterson High Tigers

The 5-foot-11, 200-pound senior was a cornerstone on the Tigers’ defense, which helped Patterson to a 10-0 regular season and the second round of the Sac-Joaquin Section Division 3 playoffs.
