2015 Starbucks/Black Hat Football Defensive MVP: Turlock High LB Mustafa Noel-Johnson

Filed in Uncategorized by on December 14, 2015

The 6-foot-2, 245-pound junior has what every coach is looking for Unknown-21from a linebacker: The ability to play tough against the run, taking on and shedding offensive linemen, and the smarts to recognize play-action and take an active role in pass coverage.

Mustafa was in on 67 tackles for the Bulldogs, and posted 8.5 sacks as the Bulldogs advanced to the Sac-Joaquin Section Division I playoffs. The Central California Conference Defensive Player of the Year, Mustafa will need to get stronger and quicker for his senior year, because he’s likely to pull some double duty: He caught six passes for 128 yards (a 21-yard average) and two TDs this season.
