2015 Starbucks/Black Hat Football Large-School MVP: West High RB/DB Marcel Dancy

RB/DB MARCEL DANCY, West High Wolfpack

The 5-foot-9, 180-pound senior played well above his weight class 13-1this season, carrying the offensive load and also contributing on defense to lift the Wolfpack into the Sac-Joaquin Section playoffs. That might sound ordinary, except that this program had back-to-back 1-9 seasons in 2012 and 2013, and Dancy put an end to that misery.

He was a 2014 Starbucks/Black Hat Football RB, as well, and improved upon that season by rushing for 1,914 yards and 25 TDs in 11 games. He also caught 24 balls for 386 yards and three TDs, was in on 94 tackles and had five interceptions. He also was the Tri-City Athletic League co-Offensive Player of the Year.

Despite his size, Dancy was packhorse for West: He had five games with 30 or more carries, including one with 37 and another with 38. His signature game came in a 57-42 win over Chavez, when Dancy had 31 carries for 306 yards and six touchdowns.

Dancy finished the year with 3,066 yards and 30 TDs, and career totals of 3,145 yards and 37 TDs rushing; 38 catches for 558 yards and four TDs; 152 tackles and six interceptions.
