2015 Starbucks/Black Hat Football Small-School MVP: Orestimba High’s Austin Martins

RB/DB AUSTIN MARTINS, Orestimba High Warriors

The 5-foot-10, 190-pound senior out together a remarkable season while leading images-7the Warriors to the school’s first-ever 10-0 regular season and a stunning upset of Hughso in the first round of the Sac-Joaquin Section Division 5 playoffs.

Martins ran for 2,081 yards and 23 touchdowns, including four consecutive 200-yard games (200, 234, 258, 231 & 11 TDs) in league play. He also had 115 tackles, six sacks and eight interceptions. He also was the Southern League MVP a year ago – the SL will announce its 2015 MVP later this week.

Check out these two-year varsity statistics: He ran for 3,487 yards and 38 TDs; He caught 23 passes for 213 yards; He was in on 216 tackles; he had 7 sacks; and he intercepted 12 passes.
