Noah’s Spring Water Team of the Week: Manteca overwhelms Sacramento QB heading to Ball State

Each week, Black Hat visits a high school to deliver a bounty of Noah’s refreshing Noah's Logospring water and reward the Noah’s Spring Water Team of the Week. We know high school teams receiving the five hefty cases of Noah’s Spring Water — packed in 24-ounce, resealable cans — appreciate the timely delivery, as well.

Manteca High could have scheduled its home opener for Friday, guaranteed one of its easiest victories of this fall.

Instead, Coach Eric Reis and the Buffaloes moved the game back a day – allowing Christian Brothers’ quarterback Trey Vander Waal to take the field as the Falcons’ starter. The 6-foot-4, 215-pounder has already committed to Ball State.

Vander Waal transferred from Elk Grove and was ineligible until 12:01 a.m. Saturday, and the Buffs wanted to face CB – a potential Division 3 playoff rival – at its best.

Manteca certainly gave CB its best, running away with a 39-6 win Saturday night to earn its spot as the Noah’s Spring Water Team of the Week. Manteca is 2-0 and hosts Enochs-Modesto Friday night at 7.

Manteca held CB to 148 yards on 48 plays, including 18 yards on 17 carries.
