Video/Noah’s Spring Water Team of the Week: Edison’s Vikings are the most explosive team in The 209

Each week, Black Hat visits a high school to deliver a bounty of Noah’s refreshing spring water. We know high school teams receiving the five hefty cases of Noah’s Spring Water — packed in 24-ounce, resealable cans — appreciate the timely delivery, as well.

There’s not a more explosive team in The 209 than the Edison Hiugh Vikings, who feature one of the Sac-Joaquin Section’s most prolific receivers in Hassani Zackery. He was one of Black Hat Football’s Athletes of the Week after Week 1, then he caught 10 passes for 180 yards and 2 TDs in last weekend’s 61-56 shootout victory over Beyer of Modesto.

The Vikings are averaging 69 points a game – having scored 77 and 61 points their first two games – and are 2-0 going into this Friday’s game at Heritage of Brentwood. Heritage is a perfect 3-0 and beat Tokay of Lodi 38-14 in the opener and beat Pacheco of Los Banos 48-27 in Week 2.

Zackery has played a role in the early success of sophomore QB Davis Reya-Ruiz, who is hitting  78 percent of his throws (28 of 36 for 564 yards), with 8 TDs and 2 interceptions. Jordan Whatley (235 yards, 4 TDs) and junior Gabriel Low (123 yards, 2 TDs bolster the run game.
