Recap Video/Versatile Luke Fulkerson sets up showdown between Sierra rivals Summerville & Sonora

The Summerville Bears stayed perfect through the first six weeks of the 2017 season, but that perfection will be put to the ultimate test next Friday when mighty Sonora (4-2, 2-0) visits. Sonora has long had the dominant football program in the Sierra, and the Wildcats are 20-0 with three league titles since joining the Mother Lode League three years ago.

Summerville opened league play and pushed its record to 5-0 by running past Linden 57-6 Friday night, a showcase for versatile Luke Fulkerson. One of Black Hat Football’s Taco Bell Athletes of the Week earlier this season, Fulkerson ran for a TD, caught a TD and returned a punt for a TD this weekend.

RB Dominic Esquivel’s early TD got the Bears rolling, while sophomore Nick Veach scored two TDs and intercepted a pass.
