High school football in The 209 and an education, it’s a great combination.
That’s the message that Taco Bell is promoting, with Black Hat Football, as we prepare for the 2016 season. We’ll select 3 Taco Bell Athletes of the Week each Monday during the football season, through the Sac-Joaquin Section Section playoffs, and each earns a $20 gift card for tasty treats and a Taco Bell Athlete of the Week patch.
The sophomore stepped into a starring role when starter Andre Barnett was injured early in Friday night’s 48th Santa Fe Bowl, and Gilliam took full advantage of it. Elijah, whose brother Ulonzo was a 2016 Starbucks/Black Hat Football performer, had 17 carries for 133 yards and scored 4 touchdowns in the Bears’ 44-13 win over Atwater. The victory kept alive Merced’s (2-4, 1-1 CCC) playoff hopes – the conference’s top two teams earn automatic playoff berths.
